Melissa first found CrossFit when invited by a friend to try a class. Not really knowing what CrossFit was, but figuring why not, she gave it a try. After her first class, she was completely hooked, and began attending classes 5-6 times per week, and hasn’t looked back since. Melissa has always been interested in fitness and nutrition, being a former runner and also a mom of children with special dietary needs. After months of training at ASDC, Melissa decided to pursue the CF-L1 certification so that she could gain an in-depth understanding of the philosophy of CrossFit, the movements, and also how to teach CrossFit and share it with others. Outside of the gym, Melissa is a Special Education Teacher and Behavior Analyst, who works primarily with children and adults with Autism. Having an ingrained passion for teaching and helping others, being able to coach CrossFit has allowed her to unite her interests and passions. In addition to the CF-L1 certification, Melissa holds a CrossFit Kids certification and coaches our CFKids classes at the gym during the week. Helping others to improve their health and lives, be it 5 year olds or adults, motivates Melissa to continually keep learning about CrossFit, refining her abilities, and continuing her own professional development. She is driven to help each athlete work hard to find his true potential, challenge his growth both mentally and physically, and create the best possible life through CrossFit.
